Setup Guide ยท ๐Ÿฆ‰ The 10X Owl

๐Ÿฆ‰ 10X Invite Agent โ€” Setup Guide (for Jeevan: paste โ†’ build โ†’ deploy โ†’ test)

Everything is plain paste-and-click. ONE project, ONE deployment โ€” the same web app serves your dashboard AND records your guests' RSVP clicks. ~10 minutes end to end.

Part 1 โ€” Build the product sheet (once)

  1. Create a new Google Sheet. Name it 10X Invite Agent.
  2. Extensions โ†’ Apps Script. Delete the default Code.gs content.
  3. Paste the 16 files from The Owl\ โ€” one script file each (File โ–ธ + โ–ธ Script for .gs, + โ–ธ HTML for App and Sidebar). Names must match the filenames exactly (no .gs/.html typed โ€” the editor adds it):
Utils, Setup, Bank, Countdown, Writer, Columns, Send, Party, Drive, Attach, Import, License, Code, WebAppFull + HTML App, Sidebar.
  4. Project Settings โš™ โ†’ tick Show "appsscript.json" โ†’ paste The Owl\appsscript.json over it. Save all.
  5. Back in the sheet: reload the browser tab. Menu ๐Ÿฆ‰ 10X Invite Agent โ†’ โš™๏ธ Setup / Rebuild Workbook โ†’ authorize (Advanced โ†’ continue โ†’ Allow โ€” normal for your own copy).
  6. You should see: Recipients (with the cream top section), Sent Box, Invite Messages, Field Bank tabs. โœ…

Watch for curly quotes โ€” if a paste errors, retype the quote characters in the editor. After ANY later code change: re-paste the changed file(s) and Deploy โ†’ Manage deployments โ†’ New version. Saving alone does nothing live.

Part 2 โ€” Deploy the web app (once โ€” dashboard + RSVP in one)

  1. Apps Script โ†’ Deploy โ†’ New deployment โ†’ Web app.
  2. Execute as: Me ยท Who has access: Anyone with the link โ†’ Deploy โ†’ copy the URL (ends /exec).
  3. Sheet menu โ†’ ๐Ÿ”— Set the App link โ†’ paste. That's it โ€” this ONE link now:
    - opens your dashboard (menu โ†’ ๐Ÿฆ‰ Open the Owl App โ€” it adds your private access key automatically), and
    - powers the Yes / No / Maybe RSVP links in every email (guests hit the same address with their personal token).
  4. โš  The dashboard link the menu opens contains your access key โ€” share that full link with your team only. Guests never need it: without the key, the bare address just shows a polite "use your invitation link" card. Your guest list is never visible to guests.

Part 3 โ€” The 10-minute smoke test (do this before trusting it)

  1. App โ†’ โš™๏ธ Presets โ†’ load ๐Ÿ’ Wedding / Gala (or any).
  2. ๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Common details โ†’ fill Event, Event Date (a real future date), Venue, Sign-off, Sender.
  3. โž• Add guest โ†’ your own name + your own Gmail. Add a second with a different address if you have one.
  4. ๐Ÿ”„ Refresh โ†’ Days to Event fills, Ladder Step gets suggested.
  5. Tick the row(s) โ†’ โœ๏ธ Invite Writer โ†’ Subject/Message fill by step.
  6. Click the row โ†’ the drawer opens โ†’ add yourself as CC โ†’ Save.
  7. Tick โ†’ โœ… Mark Ready โ†’ ๐Ÿ‘ Preview + draft โ†’ check the preview shows the RSVP buttons โ†’ โœ‰๏ธ Send ready.
  8. Open the email โ†’ click Yes โ†’ the confirmation page shows โ†’ back in the app, Refresh: RSVP = Yes, going = 1. ๐ŸŽ‰
  9. Security spot-check: paste the email's RSVP link into an incognito window and delete everything after /exec โ€” you should see the plain RSVP card, NOT your dashboard.
  10. ๐Ÿ” New Wave โ†’ Refresh โ†’ Writer โ†’ the same guest is ready for the next ladder email (a guest who clicked No stays untouched โ€” that's deliberate).
  11. ๐Ÿ“ฎ Sent history after an Archive shows the archived rows.

Part 4 โ€” When you're ready to sell (the playbook, unchanged)

  1. Make a _Master copy; Start Fresh; blank the Common Details; clear the Sent Box (remove your PII); load a starter preset.
  2. In License.gs ON THE MASTER: required: true + your Gumroad permalink in product. Save. (Copies freeze code at copy-time โ€” flip BEFORE sharing the link.)
  3. Share โ†’ Anyone with the link โ†’ Viewer. Sell link = the sheet URL with the tail swapped to /copy.
  4. Test the /copy link in incognito: fresh copy must demand a key before send.
  5. Buyers do Parts 1(5-6) and 2 themselves from their copy โ€” their own auth, their own Gmail, their own deployment. Document Properties (app link, access key, license key) don't travel on copy โ€” that's by design; each copy mints its own access key at Setup.

Daily flow (once set up)

Import/add guests โ†’ ๐Ÿ”„ Refresh โ†’ โœ๏ธ Invite Writer โ†’ tick โ†’ โœ… Ready โ†’ ๐Ÿ‘ Preview โ†’ โœ‰๏ธ Send โ†’ RSVPs land by themselves. Later waves: ๐Ÿ” New Wave โ†’ Refresh โ†’ Writer โ†’ Ready โ†’ Send (decliners are skipped automatically). Event done: ๐Ÿ“ฎ Archive.

Stuck? App ๐Ÿ”„ Refresh, or sheet menu ๐Ÿฉบ Health Check / Repair. Gmail limits: ~100/day free Gmail, ~1,500/day Workspace โ€” send in batches of 25โ€“50 (sends are auto-paced to keep Gmail's spam filter happy).
